How do I book the studio?

View the studio’s booking calendar to check for available space. You can navigate through the year and request a booking by clicking on any available space. The form will ask for your contact and booking details and once submitted will be confirmed via email within 24 hours.

How many studios do you have?

Brand X currently manage six resources for the performing, visual arts and live music community; PRESHANA in Darlinghurst, THE PALACE STUDIO in Marrickville, CAMPERDOWN BOWLING CLUB in Camperdown, TWT CREATIVE PRECINCT in St Leonards, TEMPE JETS in Tempe and BRAND X STUDIO as a creative retail store in Surry Hills.

Are all the bookings displayed in the calendar confirmed?

Yes — the calendar is up-to-date and displays all confirmed bookings, although there is sometimes a last minute change or cancellation. It is a policy of Brand X that all bookings are made on a ‘first-in’ basis, therefore we do not negotiate changes in existing bookings with new booking requests.

What hire rate am I?

An individual or group who is not in receipt of an Artist Pass is charged a standard $50 per hour to hire our facilities. The Artist Pass rates are determined on your activity for which you are making the booking. An individual working in the studio alone is considered as ‘solo/individual’; a group with no funding or budget is considered as ‘group’; an organisation or group who has been funded or has a budget to spend on the project is considered as ‘funded project’; an individual or group who collect fees from participants or from people entering the studio is considered as ‘commercial’. These rates are determined on a booking-by-booking basis.

Do I have to sign a contract or agreement?

Yes — when you make a booking you’ll be prompted to indicate that you agree to our Terms and Conditions – this is effectively your contact.

Do I need to factor my set-up and pack-down time when I book the studio?

Yes — as the times you book indicate the moment you step into the building until the time you step out.

How do I pay for my hire?

You will be issued with an invoice via e-mail and have a choice of 2 payment options that include Paypal and EFT. We do not accept cash/cheque payments. Please remember to include your invoice number on all payments made.

How many people can use an organisation Artist Pass?

Up to 8 individuals are able to use an organisation Artist Pass. All invoices generated for program registrations or studio bookings will be addressed to the organisation’s account that holds the membership.

How do I get access?

On your first booking the studio management will open the facility and induct you into the studio space. Here they will issue you with a code for future access to the space you book.

Do you have Internet access in your studios?

Preshana Studio, Camperdown Clubhouse and The Palace Studio do not have a WiFi network. All our other resources do.

Can I give my code to other people?

No — you are solely responsible for the safety and security of the studio and building for the duration of your hire as per the Studio’s terms and conditions. Access to the studio is monitored and you will be billed accordingly.

Why was no-one at the studio when I came to visit?

The management of the studio does not work from the premises and therefore need to be contacted in advance to arrange studio inspections.

Can I organise an inspection of the studio?

Absolutely. Call James on 0419 825 895 or email james@brandx.org.au. Inspections are subject to studio and manager availability.

If I don’t have access to the Internet, can I make a booking over the phone?

Absolutely — but the manager you ring may not be able to check studio availability at the time of your call.

Can I cancel my booking?

Sure, but you have to give us at least 48 hours notice without it incurring a charge. Cancellations made between 24-48 hours of the booking will incur a 50% cancellation fee of total hire, less than 24 hours — 100% of total hire.

Do you take on-going/weekly bookings?

Yes — we have members who run weekly classes in the studio and hold bookings at the same time each week for the entire year. We are happy to book regular time slots for periods extending from a month to a whole year (subject to availability).

Do you have weekly rates?

Yes we do — and are usually based on an 8-hour day or a 40-hour week — check our rates page for details.

Where can I park?

Information on the parking conditions for each studio are detailed in the listing for each specific studio.

Does your studio accommodate tap or flamenco dance?

The TWT Rehearsal Space is available for tap or flamenco dance.

Can I hold an event/performance at your studios?

Brand X facilities are not places of public entertainment. Local council’s do not allow us to operate performances or events in the studios that generate a box office (ie: charging an entry fee), exceed 30 people or sell goods or services (e.g.: liquor). Exceptions can apply however, and we strongly suggest you contact us to discuss your proposed activity. Special licenses can be granted for exceptions but need to be arranged with the local authority well in advance.

Can I promote my information to your network?

Brand X promotes activity through its e-news and social media. Artist Pass holders can submit content to james@brandx.org.au but it may be subject to an editing process. Otherwise we tend not to send out random promotion material unless it offers exceptional benefit to our network… i.e.: free stuff!
