NEXT ROUND OPENS MARCH 2019

For the past ten-months, Brand X have built a loyal audience for our Flying Nun performance program at East Sydney Community and Arts Centre – and now we want to share them with you.

Thanks to The City of Sydney and Create NSW, Brand X are seeking expressions of interest from artists wanting to be considered for The Flying Nun program (season 3) commencing January to June 2019.

Our successful Flying Nun program at the East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC) showcases outcomes from our performing arts residencies alongside local fringe performance that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day. It’s a space where artists test and perfect new work, keeping fringe performance alive and accessible for Sydney audiences to experience.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Brand X are keen to hear from professional and emerging artists working in dance, theatre, live music, performance art, comedy, film and contemporary culture. We want to showcase new, avant-garde ideas that provoke and push creative boundaries. We are here to nurture concepts that the more conventional performance spaces are hesitant to run… so don’t be afraid to think completely unconventionally… the weirder and wilder – the better.

Our program takes place on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year from 8pm for a standard ticket price of $20. We are interested in one-off ideas, on-going monthly events or two-night seasons. No idea is too out-there or too fresh to be considered. We welcome new works, new ideas and new approaches to public engagement.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

We support artists and their new works with a 95% box office return for performances at ESCAC as part of the Flying Nun program. Our staff are here to help you realise your ideas with access to our production equipment and marketing support. We can also offer free development time in one of our rehearsal spaces in Sydney if required.

ESCAC has professional lighting rig, sound, AV and modular staging system. Capacity is between 70-150 pax with a separate foyer, bar and box office. For more information on the venue visit: http://www.brandx.org.au/rehearsal-spaces/east-sydney-community-arts-centre/

HOW TO APPLY?

Complete the form below with details on your idea. If we find it compelling and we think it would work in our venue, we’ll be in contact to talk it through further.
