Are you making new theatre work? Do you need inspiration from hands-on clowning performance action? Or want to try something new?

Come and join physical theatre troupe Frumpus for a delicious comedy casserole of hearty ideas creation and practical concept theory in a fun and inclusive artist-to-artist training session.

Part workshop, part performance, part conversation, this one-off course offers a full run-down of the Frumpus process detailing how to create expansive, provocative and joyously daggy new work.

Experiment, take a risk and drink lots of cups of tea as we prepare you with a range of creative tools to trigger ideas, invention and messy provocation.

Suitable for theatre-makers, performance artists, comedy lovers: anyone who wants to delve further into making their own work or expand their horizons. Ages 18+

Frumpus will deliver their A2A session with an on-demand video, and in-person performance lab.

The on-demand video will be a practical, track-suited workshop exploring silence, silliness and daggy joy within ungainliness and the grotesque. Frumpus will offer a range of hands-on tools and techniques based in absurdity, nostalgia, film scraps, handmade props and meticulous chunks of sound to create fun, seat-of-your-pants physical comedy. You will receive an email link to view the video on February 12th.

During a 1.5 hour in-person session @ East Sydney Community Arts Centre on February 19th @ 6.30pm Frumpus will work with you to create a character, situation or theme and work to strike a balance between the ugly, the playful and the joyous. Frumpus are champing at the bit to watch your creative performance. There will of course also be time for a Q&A and chat.

Cheryle Moore, Lenny Ann Low and Stephanie Hart (aka Frumpus).

Frumpus is an all-girl ensemble that uses large-scale, bizarre and surreal comic moments to explode taboos around the representation of women. Exploring ideas embedded in popular culture, beauty ideals and the grotesque, Frumpus create a unique visual language and orchestrated soundtrack to explore the awkward, the victim as heroine and the monstrous female in life and fiction.

Frumpus is the collaborative practice of Sydney-based artists Cheryle Moore Lenny Ann Low, Julie Vulcan and Stephanie Hart. Their shows have appeared at Performance Space, Carriageworks, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Sydney Festival, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Melbourne Festival and in a mucky Redfern side alley for 150 people.
