"Entering its 10th year, Late Night Library offers city residents and visitors access to bold cultural experiences. We invite emerging and established artist-producers to experiment with programming concepts that cross art-form boundaries and aim to inspire our audiences in 2020.

Late Night Library is free to attend and programmed for audiences 18 years and over. 


Propose an engaging, original and diverse series of Late Night Library events. A series should comprise of 3 to 4 events, each 1 hour long. Your proposal must:

  • Shake up the Late Night Library style, which includes events that are playful, entertaining, fun, unusual, interesting, experimental, quirky, challenging, provocative and alternative. 
  • Support a balance of emerging and established artists.
  • Specify 1 consistent location for the proposed series (choose from Customs House, Surry Hills, Kings Cross, Ultimo, Glebe, Newtown, Waterloo, Green Square and Darling Square libraries).
  • Consider the unique character, history or contemporary flavour of the location you've chosen.


In 2020, we invite you to address the theme Greatest Hits in your proposal.

Question the role of nostalgia, cross-examine historical perspectives, remix ideas and reimagine the passing of time and culture as it stands. 

In your proposal, specify 1 of 3 preferred periods to program your series:

  • March–May 2020
  • June–August 2020
  • September–November 2020. "
