Brand X invites LGBTQIA+ artists who identify as: disabled or with disability, d/Deaf and/or hard of hearing, and/or neurodivergent, to apply for performing arts residency Ground Zero.

This program has been designed in consultation with the Brand X Access and Inclusion Panel

5 artists or groups will be selected to develop and perform a short 10-15 minute work in a night of accessible performance as part of The Flying Nun and World Pride 2023.

We welcome artists with any level of experience to pitch ideas that are brand new, developing or existing across performance, theatre, dance, movement, spoken word, drag, physical theatre and more.

There are a variety of formats to access more information about the program, and we welcome different types of applications.

 

Residency includes:
  • Flexible program structure and supportive team including professional LGBTQI+ artists with disability
  • Artist fee - $1000 for solo projects, $1500 for groups
  • Stipend - $500 per project for production costs
  • Up  to 10 hours of solo development at City of Sydney Creative Studios (CoSCS)
  • 5 days of group rehearsal at East Sydney Community Arts Centre (ESCAC)
  • Friday and Saturday night accessible performance season at ESCAC
  • Bursary funding on request for access needs like transport, support people and interpretation

Stage 1 Development: Flexible dates between 8am - 6pm 23rd January - 12th February 2023.

Stage 2 Rehearsal: 13th - 17th February 2023

Performance Nights: 17th and 18th February 2023
