AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS –  2020 RESILIENCE FUND

Australia Council for the Arts are directing approximately $5M to the Resilience Fund to provide immediate relief to the Australian arts sector. The 2020 Resilience Fund is designed to provide emergency relief to support the livelihoods, practice and operations of Australian artists, groups and organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are three streams you can apply for: 

Survive grants are available to individuals, groups and organisations to offset or recoup money lost due to cancelled activity. These grants provide stop-gap funding until relief offered by other funding agencies, government departments and support services can be accessed.

Who can apply: Individuals, groups and organisations can apply to this category.

How much you can apply for: Individuals and groups up to $2,000. Organisations up to $5,000

Adapt grants are available to individuals, groups and organisations to adapt their practice and explore new ways of working. This could include skills and career development, business development, developing artistic practice, exploring new ways of connecting and collaborating inclusively, and increasing your digital capability.

CITY OF SYDNEY – COVID 19 SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS

To help keep businesses, creatives and cultural organizations afloat, and our most vulnerable communities safe, we recently announced a support package worth $72.5 million. The package includes the initiatives below.

This program, valued at $2 million, supports businesses with funds to enable them to adapt their business models to the new operating environment. Examples include the supply of new products or services to address a current or emerging demand in the market, the development of new online and e-commerce capabilities, support for training and professional development, or investment in capital works.

Who can apply: Small businesses and for profit arts enterprises with 1 to 19 employees. In exceptional circumstances, we will consider applications from businesses in hospitality and tourism that have a greater number of employees.

How much you can apply for: $10,000 per business

Worth $2.25 million in total, these grants provide immediate financial support to sole traders and not-for-profit arts and cultural organisations. It is for those who have had revenue-generating operations, programs, events or initiatives cancelled, postponed or reduced in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who can apply: sole traders and arts and cultural organisations 

How much can you apply for: $10,000 per sole trader and $20,000 per organisation

Valued at $1 million, this fund is to help keep arts and creative professionals working during a time of reduced opportunities. Projects can have outcomes that will be presented during or after the crisis.

Valued at $1.5 million, these grants provide financial assistance to not-for-profit and social enterprises who support vulnerable community members with food security, digital inclusion and social inclusion in response to Covid-19.

Valued at $500,000, the quick response grant program supports small-scale initiatives for local residents, communities and organizations responding to urgent need in their communities.

INNER WEST COUNCIL - CREATIVE AND CULTURAL RESILIENCE GRANTS PROGRAM 

These grants will support artists and creatives in the Inner West Council to develop their practice and produce new work and will help preserve creative spaces that nurture local culture

Who can apply: Artist and Creative Practitioner Grants and Creative Spaces Grants

How much you can apply for: up to $5,000 to $20,000 depending on the Grant.

NSW GOVERNMENT – SMALL BUSINESS GRANT

This is fast relief for NSW small businesses for unavoidable business costs such as utilities, overheads, legal costs and financial advice. The application form will be available on the Service NSW website by 17 April.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The Australian Government’s Business website is updated frequently. It has information on eligibility and timing for business support, including for sole traders, employers and employees.

NSW GOVERNMENT SUPPORT 

The NSW Government Small Business Commissioner website is updated regularly with details including which businesses are restricted from trading. It has tips and resources to help you manage your small business during the crisis and into the recovery phase.

THE AUSTRALIAN BANKING ASSOCIATION

Many banks are offering a small business relief package to help them stay viable. Features include deferring payments, waiving fees, charges and penalties.
