Performing Arts Creative Development

Applications are now open, closing midnight Tuesday 12 July 2022

For performing arts projects in the early stages of development, artists receive rehearsal space time without the pressure of an outcome.

Residency includes

1 or 2 weeks of rehearsal studio time at City of Sydney Creative Studios
$1300 stipend per project
Access to Brand X technicians and equipment
Invitation-only showing at the end of the residency period

Artists are welcome to build on collaborations, generate new ideas, transition from page or early formation onto the floor, explore a new direction in practice or project, workshop the potentials of a new design element or delve into the early creative development of a new work.

Applications are welcome from artists working in all performing arts disciplines including theatre, dance, physical theatre, performance art or multi-art forms.

Applications Open: 8 June 2022

Applications Close: Midnight Tuesday 12 July 2022

Studio Inspections for Shortlisted Artists (if required): Week ending 26 August 2022

Outcome Notifications: Week ending 2 September 2022

First residency begins: Monday 12 September 2022

City of Sydney Creative Studios bookings now open!

The City of Sydney Creative Studios is a new state-of-the-art cultural facility consisting of 30 spaces across the first 5 storeys of the Greenland Centre at 119 Bathurst St, Sydney. The 2000sqm facility includes rehearsal spaces, recording and editing suites, visual art studios, workshop and screening rooms, office spaces, café and an artist in residence apartment.

The City of Sydney and Brand X match properties available on a temporary basis with short term creative projects including creative working studios, exhibition space, creative retail and temporary office space for project work.
TWT Visual Arts Studio – St Leonards

Brand X offers affordable, semi-permanent tenancy to visual artists, designers and craft practitioners in open-plan shared spaces and private enclosed studios.
What is Brand X?

Brand X is a not-for-profit arts organisation run by Artists for Artists who are in the business of making space for Artists by re-purposing under-utilised properties in Sydney so performing, recording and visual art communities can practice their craft.
Site-responsive performance residency

Brand X invites artists with experience in creating site-specific performance and visual installation to submit an EOI to Petite Suite.

Create Live Work Spaces

As Creative Tenancy Manager, Brand X seek applications from artists and creatives to live and work in these properties for an 18-month period from early April 2021. Rent is set at $200 per week excluding outgoings/utilities. Applicants are required to demonstrate a relevant creative practice to pursue throughout their tenancy and identify why they would benefit from this unique opportunity.
