Staff of Brand X Read the profiles of our staff at Brand X. Expand JAMES WINTER – Director James graduated from the Centre for the Performing Arts (Adelaide) in 1993. As a Theatre Director, James has worked for the State Opera Company of South Australia, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Restless Dance Company, D Faces of Youth Arts, Urban Myth Theatre of Youth, AIT Arts, Shopfront, Ashfield Youth Theatre, Belvoir Youth Express and The Studio at the Sydney Opera House. James co-founded Brand X in 2005 and since then has worked on 17 re-purpose projects with the company and consulted for the private and public sectors on cultural infrastructure. He currently sits on the board of Darlinghurst Business Partnership, the Nightlife and Creative Sector Advisory Panel for the City of Sydney and the Inner West Arts and Culture Advisory Committee. AESHA HENDERSON – Program Manager Aesha is a visual artist working across design, sculpture, theatre, community arts, performance and production. She holds an honours degree in Visual arts from Sydney College of the Arts and has spent over 10 years working extensively in theatre and events as a designer, maker, installer, project manager, creative director and all round do-whatever-needs-to-be-done. She also has a background in venue management and hospitality. Her work often extends into community and festival events where she enjoys the opportunity to create and facilitate with other artists and community members. Aesha’s work has been seen at the Sydney Observatory, Vivid, Sydney Festival, Tropfest, Cementa, MCA, Sydney Mardi Gras, Campbelltown Arts Centre, City of Sydney NYE, Art Is…Festival, River of Art Festival and Wonderfruit. Aesha has held a studio with Brand X in multiple locations over the years and she looks forward to supporting other Brand X artists in her role. PAUL LOCKWOOD – Venues Manager Paul Lockwood is a local artist, musician and Jack of all trades. Experience derived from years in the entertainment industry including comedy booking, actor management/casting as well as props and event styling. Additional experience includes art sales/curation, hospitality and handyman services. He has worked extensively in food/beverage and most recently as Manager of Workshop Makery on Oxford Street. As a performer himself, Paul empathises with the artists’ needs and wishes encouraging effective communication with his approachable nature and can do attitude. KAT SANDBERG – Finance Officer Kat Sandberg has a Master of Project Management from Charles Sturt University with skills in Financial Management, IT, Stakeholder and Business Management. She has experience working in different industries including hospitality, finance and property with responsibilities that include developing strategies and solutions, designing and documenting new systems and implementing financial processes. Kat brings her advanced skill set in business administration to support our operations and resource functions. RICARDO OJEA – Marketing Manager Ricardo has a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from The Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (Spain) and recently completed his studies in Digital Marketing. Ricardo has experience in different industries including Hospitality, Retail and online e-commerce, working for companies such as Lastminute.com in Barcelona and ZARA during its expansion in Australia. His interests lie in the arts, travel, fashion and e-commerce sectors and recently joined the Brand X family to oversee the building of our new website and to manage the social media accounts. ROMY CAEN – Administrator Romy Caen has been working in arts administration, studio management and event coordination roles at various non-profit, artist-run and Indigenous community arts organisations such as Bankstown Arts Centre, 107 Projects, Injalak Arts and Anyplace Projects since 2008. From 2014-2016 Romy worked with Brand X to establish the Tempe Jets music hub, Camperdown Clubhouse artist studios and assisted at the St Leonards Arts Incubator Space. She has also founded and co-founded several independent initiatives such as Shepherd Studios, an artist studio complex in Marrickville; AV Union, a microcinema and events space in Leichhardt; and various experimental music event series such as Garageworks, psh.live and Sound Series. In her spare time Romy is part of the EMUS collective, an online calendar and newsletter resource for local exploratory music and sound art. She also plays harmonium and electronics with the Splinter Orchestra, an electroacoustic improvising ensemble, and has performed with them and in other groups at events such as the NOW Now and Siteworks Festivals in NSW, SoundOut Festival in ACT and Tectonics Festival in SA.
