Booking with Brand X What is the process of booking a space. Expand How do I book? To book a hirable space at Brand X visit: https://bookings.brandx.org.au/ then log in using your Artist Pass and click Create a Booking. For information on how to use the booking calendar, click “FAQ & Help” in the navigation bar (three horizontal lines in the top left of your screen once you have logged in). Do I book funded or unfunded? Funded are groups that have received grants, have a budget or employ creatives in the project. Unfunded groups are artists working without a budget, paying their own expenses. Do you invoice for bookings? Brand X are moving away from invoicing with preference to our pay-as-you-go system. Studio spaces can be booked and paid for with credit or debit card using your Artist Pass and our online booking calendar. What if I need to change or cancel my booking? Please be aware that Brand X has strict hire conditions regarding cancellations. Brand X will no longer be offering credits for cancelled bookings. Hire costs can be refunded if the booking is cancelled 48 hrs or more prior to the booking. The Hirer must notify Brand X if it wishes to cancel its booking and if the cancellation is: from 48 hours to 24 hours prior to the Hire Date then half the Hire Fee (minus 3.5% card fees + $0.30 transaction fees + $1 administration fee) is forfeited to Brand X and the balance of the Hire Fee paid by the Hirer will be refunded to the Hirer or within 24 hours prior to the Hire Date then the entire Hire Fee is forfeited to Brand X. for weekly hire (40+ hours) 14 days to 7 days prior to the Hire Date, half the Hire Fee (minus 3.5% card fees + $0.30 transaction fees + $1 administration fee) is forfeited to Brand X or within 7 days prior to the Hire Date then the entire Hire Fee is forfeited to Brand X. All refunds will incur merchant and administration charges (3.5% card fees + $0.30 transaction fees + $1 administration fee).
City of Sydney Creative Studios - COSCS Learn more about CoSCS. Expand What are the venue operating hours? City of Sydney Creative Studios operates 6am - 12am daily. Please be aware that staff are only onsite for the following hours: 8am - 8pm, Monday to Friday. 8am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday. If you require access to studio spaces outside of the above staff hours, you will need to have been inducted by venue staff and supplied with access security FOB. Security FOBS cannot be issued outside of non-staffed hours. Does the venue have parking onsite? Please be aware that the venue does not have onsite parking. The nearest parking location is Wilson Parking, 14 Wilmot St, Sydney, operating from 6.30am - 7pm Monday - Friday. Alternatively, Meriton Pitt Street Parking on 100 Bathurst Street, Sydney is open 24 hours daily and offer cheaper rates. Please let venue staff know if loading dock access or accessible car spaces are required as this can be organised. What’s the nearest public transport? The nearest public transport is by train - 5 min walk from Town Hall and Museum Stations; L2 Light Rail - 5 min walk from Light Rail platforms; or Bus - 5 min walk from Elizabeth St Stand C and D. Can we do a public event? Brand X at City of Sydney Creative Studios venue is not a place of public entertainment. Invitation-only showings and workshops are welcome, please talk to our staff if you intend on having an invitation-only event. If you are interested in running a public event, look at our Darlinghurst venue, East Sydney Community and Arts Centre: https://www.brandx.org.au/escac When can I have venue access? Access to the building is provided 15 mins prior to your booking via your security access FOB. This provides you access to common areas only. Venue access is provided from the time of your booking. Please be aware that during busier periods bookings can be back to back. You will need to include your setup and pack down times as part of your booking. Can I use naked flame or smoke/haze in your venue? Naked flame, smoke or haze of any kind is not allowed in the City of Sydney venues. This includes candles, incense, vapes and cigarettes. Are pets/animals allowed? No animals are allowed into the space unless they are service animals.

The nearest public transport is Bus - Oxford St bus stop - 333, 373, 399, 392, 394 and M10 buses (2min walk); or Train - Museum Station (10min walk). Does the venue have parking? There is on the street metered parking limited to 2 hours. For all day parking, the nearest parking lot is Wilson Parking, 70 Riley Street, Sydney open 6am - 10pm Monday - Wednesday, 6am - 11pm Thursday - Friday and 7am - 10pm Saturday - Sunday. Alternatively, The Domain Wilson Parking on St Mary Street, Sydney is open 24/7 and offer slightly cheaper rates, with more car spaces available. Can we do a public event? Public events are permitted at the East Sydney Community & Arts Centre (ESCAC). The foyer space is accessible 15 mins prior to your booking, and the studio will be available from your booked time. Please be aware that during busier periods bookings can be back to back. You will need to include your setup and pack down times as part of your booking. How do I access the venue? A member of staff will contact you after you have made your booking to supply you with a unique security code. You can use this to enter the building, studio space and to disarm the alarm. This unique code is registered with City security under your name, so please be mindful when using your code. Can I use naked flame or smoke/haze in your venue? Brand X Programs We support artists by offering various programs throughout the year, find out how to get amongst it. Expand What are Brand X programs? Brand X programs provide opportunities for artists to get support for a particular project or for their practice. Programs vary widely and each one will outline what kind of artist they are aimed at, what kind of support is offered by Brand X (such as free space, or artist fees), and what is required from the artist (such as delivery of a performance). How do I apply to be part of a Brand X program? The application process varies depending on the program, but usually it involves an online application form and, if you are shortlisted an interview. Applications are assessed by Brand X and a Peer Assessment Panel which is made up of industry professionals in the discipline relevant to the program. Different programs are open for application at different times of the year. Yes, artists that have participated in our programs in the past are welcome to reapply with new projects or collaborations.
Brand X Tenancy We support artists and arts businesses with long-term spaces, find out more about how to acquire a tenancy. Expand What is a tenancy with Brand X? Brand X tenants rent a space with us long-term for their exclusive use. This may be an art studio or office space within one of our venues - City of Sydney Creative Studios (CoSCS), Arts Incubator, TWT Studios or Tempe Jets. Tenants usually occupy their space between 12 months - 3 years (note: maximum length of tenancy at CoSCS is 12 months). How do I apply to be part of a Brand X tenancy? If you would like to express your interest becoming a tenant at any of our venues you can fill out this form to ‘Register your Interest’, you will be contacted if a suitable space becomes available and informed of any formal application process. If you would like to apply for a tenancy at CoSCS applications open once every year around March. You are welcome to fill out the ‘Register your Interest’ form at any time to be considered for spaces that may come up outside this cycle.
